Dr. Sprague who likes to be referred to as Dr. Mike was raised here in the Southern Tier. He is a graduate of Union Endicott High School. He left the Binghamton area after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Binghamton University in 1995 to study dentistry and health sciences at the State University of New York in Buffalo. He graduated with his degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2000. Dr. Mike did a residency at Millard Fillmore, Buffalo, New York in General Dental Surgery. Following his residency in Buffalo he was accepted to the University of Rochester where he did a General Dentistry residency serving populations with health disparities.
Pursuing a career in general dentistry Dr. Mike joined two practices in the Rochester area. He joined the NY State Dental Society and was an active participant in the seventh district.
In 2005 Dr. Sprague returned to the Binghamton area and joined Dr. Bucker and Dr. Aronson in their current practice at Carpathian Dental Associates. This move presented him and his family an opportunity to be closer to their extended families. In Spring 2006 Dr. Sprague was an adjunct faculty member for Broome Community College in the Dental Hygiene Department.
Dr. Sprague presently is a member of the American Dental Association, New York State Dental Society and the Broome County Dental Society. He participates locally in the BCDS study club and remains current in practice by attending Continuing Education programs. In addition, he recently joined the Interdisciplinary Tobacco Research Program at Binghamton University. They have been working on programs to assist in smoking cessation.
Dr. Mike married his college sweetheart, Lori, who is a Clinical Lecturer at Binghamton University. Together they have two small children who attend African Road Elementary.
Dr. Mike enjoys spending time with his children and wife and looks forward to watching his children grow up in this area. He is passionate about his patients and it is well known that he goes the extra mile for them. He is a dentist that works collaboratively with other dental specialists, physicians and patients. Recently, when one of his patients needed to be seen after hours..his wife recounts that the patient leaned over and gave her a hug and stated “he is the best”!
