Dr. Bucker was raised in Cranford, NJ and attended Tulane University in New Orleans, LA where he received a BS cum laude in Biology. He received his DDS degree from Northwestern Dental School in Chicago, IL.
In 1982 Dr. Bucker arrived in Binghamton and practiced at Oakdale Dental Center. He and his classmate and partner, Hayes Aronson, DDS purchased the practice in 1988. They outgrew their space at Oakdale Mall and built their new office in 1991 and became Carpathian Dental Associates.
Dr. Bucker is a member of the American Dental Association, the NY State Dental Society and the Broome County Dental Society. He is Chairman of the BCDS Study Club and helps to provide continuing education to local dentists. Dr. Bucker has an interest in treating Obstructive Sleep Apnea and has advanced training in Oral Appliance Therapy. He is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Bucker is an adjunct faculty member of SUNYBroome Community College in the Dental Hygiene Department. He teaches Pain Management and also serves as a clinical instructor. Dr. Bucker also serves on the Board of Directors for the SUNYBroome Foundation which provides scholarships to students and financial assistance for the college.
Dental Mission trips are important to Dr. Bucker as a way to give back to less fortunate people. He traveled to India in 2008 with his son as part of the Himalayan Health Exchange. In May 2011, Dr. Bucker traveled to Port-au-Prince, Haiti and treated children at several orphanages. He also treated residents of the tent cities in Cite-Soleil who were devastated after the earthquake in 2010.
Dr. Bucker is married to his wife, Cindy, who is a local school nurse. Together they have 2 children, Brandon and Andrea, who are pursuing professional careers.
Dr. Bucker enjoys time with his patients and very likely will discuss your tennis or golf game during your appointment.
